| isabella mackenzie quilts are fine textiles designed and made by hand to be tomorrow's heirlooms. They will withstand gentle wear and tear, but please handle with care. When storing quilts, please remember to keep out of direct sunlight, and do not store in poly bags or cedar chests. If storing quilts for long periods of time, it is best to re-fold along different lines to keep fibers from breaking over time. (It is similar to folding and unfolding a letter many times.) To remove fold lines or wrinkles from shipping, steam or spritz lightly with water and allow to dry flat. For best results, quilts may be washed in cold water, by hand in a large sink or tub, or in your washing machine (gentle cycle) with a mild detergent such as Ivory Flakes or Orvus Quilt Soap. Agitate manually for best results. Fibers are most vulnerable when wet, carefully lift wet quilt from washer. Lift and carry wet quilt in a sheet to avoid stretching and weakening fibers. Place in dryer on air for 15 minutes to remove some moisture, then dry flat. Do not wring or hang wet quilts. Washing will accentuate the texture of the hand quilting. Dry cleaning is not recommended, however quilts may be vacuumed between cleanings to remove surface dirt. |
